It’s been a while since the first Chipotle burrito was ever made and when we did get our hands on one, it was a mess.
I know it was the perfect first impression for a newbie, but as I sifted through the ingredients, it became clear that there wasn’t much in the way of the real thing.
Here’s what we learned about how we got here: Chipotle uses a modified corn tortilla that’s filled with ground beef and cooked to perfection.
We didn’t get a whole burrito, but there’s a decent amount of sauce and toppings that are still good enough to keep you coming back for more.
The burrito’s flavor is mostly corn, but it also has a little bit of lime and lime juice.
The salsa is super spicy, with a touch of cilantro, jalapeno, and chipotle.
The chipotle sauce is a little spicy, too, but not enough to make the whole thing too spicy.
Chipotle says it’s going to make a few more burritos for people who like to make burritoes, but I doubt it’s enough to sustain the brand for the long term.
Chipotles are a huge part of the burrito world, but you might want to give it a try.
The company plans to roll out more varieties of burrito throughout the summer and has partnered with several restaurants to make them more affordable.
We’ll be testing some of these flavors in the coming weeks.
