In the video below, Barry Rice teaches you how to make puff rice.
(Video Credit: Barry Rice) The video is part of the series, “Puff rice: The secret to a satisfying meal.”
In the last part of this series, we showed you how you can make puffs of rice.
But, how do you make puffy rice?
The simple answer is to use a rice cooker.
In the first video, you can see how you’ll prepare puff rice in a rice boiler.
Then, in the second part of that video, Barry demonstrates how to roast puff rice with a rice cooktop.
Now, you’re ready to make your puffed and crispy rice.
For now, though, we’ll show you how.
Barry Rice’s recipe for puffed/crispy rice is simple, but not overly complicated.
In fact, he’s done it all in a matter of minutes.
Here’s how to prepare puffing rice in your rice cooker: Put the rice in the rice cooker for the time you’ll need.
This is because it will cook the rice for a longer period of time if it’s not fully cooked.
Place the rice on a pan with about 2 inches of water.
Add 1/4 cup of water to the water and let the rice soak.
While the rice is soaking, add about 1 tablespoon of salt and 1 tablespoon white vinegar.
Once the rice has absorbed the water, add the rice to the rice burner.
Pour in the water to about 1/2 cup of the rice.
When the rice cooks, the water will rise and the rice will steam.
Remove the rice from the rice cook, add 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar and stir to mix.
The rice will then begin to bubble, release steam, and release the rice and rice steam from the sides of the pan.
Add a pinch of sugar and cook for 10-12 minutes.
The water will begin to drain from the edges of the pot.
Turn off the heat and let it sit in the hot water for a few minutes.
When ready to serve, remove the rice, cut into 1-inch pieces and garnish with cilantro and a small amount of salt. Enjoy!
